I AM LIAM TWOMEY
Elite Triathlete and Aspiring Paralympian
Liam was diagnosed with a Ewing Sarcoma and had his right leg amputated below the knee. He struggled with accepting this through his teenage years, and found relieve from his grief in self destructive behaviours that brought him no joy.
At 21, Liam moved states in need of a fresh start. There he found a love for sport, and a new outlook on life.
Today he is an Elite Paratriathlete for Australia training to one day compete at the Paralympics.
START FOUNDATION -EMPOWERING AMPUTEES THROUGH SPORT
START Foundation was established in 2013 through the inspirational story of Kerryn Harvey, who contracted a life threatening flesh eating bacteria as a result of a seemingly minor cycling accident. Radical surgery was required and a right forequarter amputation (arm and shoulder) was performed.
Through the generous support of our sponsors, donors and volunteers, we are able to provide grants for a new limb, limb modification or equipment modification, to enable Amputees to participate in sport.
START Foundation has been created to "empower amputees through sport" as they have done for me and many others.

FUNDRAISER
I commenced a Twomey to Tokyo fundraiser with no real expectation and a touch of trepidation of how it would go however the support has been brilliant and we raised just on $12,000!
To all the people who contributed I am extremely grateful and humbled by the support. Your generosity has been immense. All funds will be used wisely and are allocated to specific needs.
Massive thanks to my supporters at the Tattersalls Club in Sydney, a special mention for Phil Reichelt of the Tenant Leasing Group for his sponsorship and of course over 50 other friends, family, acquaintances . They are all now members of Team Twomey.
